About Us
About the Founder:
Lauri Hoffman Bunting has been an avid writer all of her life. Early on, Lauri discovered an ability to explore, express and find resolution through writing. Lauri graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Art History. Following college, she moved to San Francisco and became the Curator of the prestigious Maxwell Galleries. There, she honed her writing skills producing essays for art catalogues and magazines. In 2002, Lauri moved to Sun Valley, Idaho with her three young children.
Lauri started Poems for Peace in spring of 2008 as a means of providing youth throughout the world an opportunity to form honest and meaningful connections through the medium of writing. Last summer, she brought Poems for Peace to Tanzania where she worked with AIDS orphans and grade school students. Recently, she traveled to Sarnath, India and worked with underprivileged children, India's "untouchables," at Buddha's Smile School. Four classes wrote, illustrated and recited peace poems, while all of the students had an opportunity to explore the notion of peace.
In Sun Valley, Lauri enjoys running, biking, skiing and hiking with her three young peacemakers. She also teaches yoga and serves on the board of Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival.
